Join us for a creative and hands-on evening making your very own Beaded Valentine Heart! Participants will explore the rich history of beadwork and learn a variety of modern techniques.
Bring the whole family! Families of 3–4 can register for just $20. Email secretary@artsfoundry.ca before registering with the number of participants to claim this special rate.
Skills Covered:
A brief history of beadwork, including traditional materials like bone, shell, seed, quill, and stone
Modern beadwork: common bead sizes, brands, and sourcing
Thread types: Nymo, Fireline, and embroidery thread
1-needle flat beading method
Edging techniques
Beaded fringe
Lots of laughs, learning, and fun!
About the Instructor:
Cynthia Martel is Denesuline, from Cold Lake First Nation. Indigenous arts and crafting have been central to her personal and creative journey, connecting her to her roots and community. Cynthia enjoys sharing her knowledge of plant medicines, sewing techniques, and exciting new projects that challenge her skills and inspire others.
