January & February Kids Art Classes with Miss Dani
Dates: Mondays, January 5 – February 23, 2026
Time: 5:00 – 6:30 PM
Ages: 7–12
Fee: $140
Start the year by strengthening your art skills! In these classes, students will focus on 1-point and 2-point perspective, building on the still-life drawing skills developed in December. The goal is to train the eye, build confidence, and have fun creating both drawings and paintings from life.
January 5 – 1-Point Perspective: Introduction
We’ll learn the basics of 1-point perspective with a guided step-by-step demonstration. After that, students can personalize their drawings by adding any elements they like.
January 12 – Hues and Values
Students will trace an image provided, identify five different value areas, and paint each section accordingly. The background will be painted using a contrasting color for added visual impact.
January 19 – 1-Point Perspective: Round Two
A quick refresher, then we dive back in! Now that students have completed one perspective drawing, their second rendition will be even stronger. This will prepare us for our upcoming painted project.
January 26 – Painting Day 1
Students will transfer either their January 5 or January 19 drawing onto canvas. They will map out where different hues and values (learned on January 12) will be applied in their painting.
February 2 – Painting Day 2 / Sketching From Life
We’ll finish last week’s paintings. Any students who finish early can sketch objects and the LAF space.
February 9 – Vision Boards
Time to mix things up! Students will create a vision board through collage and/or drawing—featuring themselves, their family, friends, interests, and anything meaningful to them. Their name should appear boldly in the center. Students may also incorporate sketches from their sketchbooks.
February 16 – No Class (Family Day)
No class this week.
February 23 – Introduction to 2-Point Perspective
We’ll begin learning 2-point perspective with a partially guided drawing. Students will design one building, focusing on structure and detailed features.
