Thro I was drawn to the visual arts from a young age, beginning with graphite drawing and later learning the art of photography and fine art painting. Through photographs I am to capture the natural beauty of the landscape and the intricate behaviour of wildlife in their natural habitats. My drawings and paintings, too, reflect my love for nature. I create detailed wildlife drawings and abstract paintings that explore themes in nature. Ultimately, my goal is to reveal the beauty and complexity of the natural world, provoking thought about its significance and inviting others to pause and contemplate the delicate balance we share with nature. I am highly inspired by the world around me and I love painting animals and all things nature. I have a soft spot for the "ugly" or "undesirable" animals and enjoy the challenge of portraying them in ways that help them be greater appreciated. I have fun with the unpredictable nature of watercolours and use this to my advantage to make bright and colourful blends in my work. My favourite part about making art is the joy that it gives other people. After all, how can you not smile at an animal wearing a silly hat? See more

She has worked with many art mediums in her life, but fell in love with Encaustic. Encaustic art is painting with beeswax! She works with this medium in its hot, molten state, and as it cools on the canvas, it hardens. Many layers are required to create luscious texture and luminosity. When time doesn't permit diving in to encaustic, Kathy loves to paint with watercolor. See more

Poiema Prints
Growing up, I was always fascinated by the arts and loved experimenting with all sorts of mediums. I fell in love with printmaking during my Arts Degr Growing up, I was always fascinated by the arts and loved experimenting with all sorts of mediums. I fell in love with printmaking during my Arts Degree at the University of Alberta and started making prints in my basement art studio. I find my inspiration from natural elements in the world and try to draw attention to the intricacies, delicate patterns and intimate moments that I find in nature. As an immigrant, I also try to bring in elements that connect back to my roots as a Chinese-Canadian. Each of my handmade prints are created in hopes to capture a precious moment in time: whether it is a kitten curled up in a fresh pile of leaves or a moth gently nestled on a flower petal. Printmaking has become a language for me to share these moments with those around me: a moment that can be communicated through a single glance. If I m not working on my prints in my basement studio I am either visiting local cafes or marking as I am also a part-time teacher! See more

When she first moved to Canada, she was pleasantly surprised by the slower pace of life and awed by the natural splendor of the land. Winters offered a time for solitude and quiet reflection. In this stillness, she started visualizing in detail the world full of colors, chaos, and movement she had experienced in India interspersed with the beauty of this new world, both of which became the subject of her paintings. Through her art, she hopes to give people a sense of joy, a visual treat for their eyes, and a moment to lose themselves in a world of her imagination. See more

Vanessa Corrigall is an Alberta painter known for her underwater swimmer works that explore light, movement, and the quiet world beneath the surface. Her paintings capture the calm, weightless feeling of being in water - where colour softens, light bends, and everything slows down. Blending realism with gentle abstraction, her work reflects her interest in perception, memory, and the stories we hold in our bodies. Based in Leduc County, Vanessa creates each piece with acrylics, building thin layers to echo the shifting textures of lakes, pools, and hot springs across Alberta. She also creates fine-art prints and small studies derived from her original paintings, offering accessible ways for collectors to bring a sense of immersion and calm into their homes. Alongside her studio practice, Vanessa teaches high-school art and psychology, and donates a portion of each sale to mental-health initiatives. Her work is collected across Alberta for its serenity, warmth, and connection to our shared experience with water. See more
