This body of work is, in many ways, the story of my being. It is difficult to put into words, and perhaps that is why I paint. Through color, texture, and form, I invite others to share in those fleeting moments of beauty, reflection, and belonging.
Artist Statement
My paintings are a portal reflecting the worlds contained within and outside of me.
Memories carried across places, moments spent in nature, the quiet feelings that surface when I linger — they all end up on my canvas.
Though the subjects shift, the thread that ties my work together is a deep connection to life as I have experienced it. A sunset over water, the fragile beauty of a bloom, or the presence of a creature in its habitat all become vessels for emotion and memory. These images are not just about what I see, but about what I feel and what I hope others may recognize in themselves.

About the Artist
Runa Gedam is an Edmonton-based visual artist who paints with her fingers to create evocative oil works.
When she first moved to Canada, she was struck by the slower pace of life and the natural splendor of the landscape. Winters became a season of solitude and quiet reflection. In this stillness, she began to visualize in detail the vibrant world of colors, chaos, and movement she had experienced in India — interwoven with the beauty of her new surroundings.
These contrasting influences became the foundation of her practice. Through her art, Runa invites viewers into a world of imagination, offering moments of joy, visual delight, and escape.
