About Anne deJong

Anne deJong is a landscape painter based in Alberta, Canada. Encouraged by her grandfather, Anne began painting at a young age, learning through experimentation and hands-on practice. After a career in visual communications and raising a family, she returned to her artistic roots in 2019 with renewed focus and purpose.

Deeply inspired by the Rocky Mountains, Anne's work is grounded in her personal connection to the land. She seeks out wild and remote places, translating her experiences into richly textured oil paintings that resonate with viewers. Her art is a tribute not only to the landscapes she has explored, but also to the places her audience holds dear.

Hiking, exploring, and simply being in the mountains are the heartbeat of my work. I aim to capture the peace, tranquility, and awe that arise when immersed in alpine meadows and rugged peaks. Working primarily with oil and palette knife, I create tactile, layered paintings that juxtapose smooth, distant skies with the raw textures of the terrain.

Each piece offers a moment of stillness—an invitation to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world. Though mountains may not always be the focal point, their presence and the experience of time spent among them are behind every brushstroke.
